Electric Boiler An electric boiler is an ideal solution for heating your home especially if the option of gas is unavailable where you live. You may want the benefits of having an electric-powered heating system such as a quiet boiler and more installation flexibility. An electric boiler uses electricity rather than gas to heat hot water. Just like a gas boiler except it heats up the water that warms your radiators, and the water you use in the kitchen and bathroom.

They can come in various shapes and sizes, but in all electric boilers, you’ll see water running through the system to be heated by a heating element which is similar to the way a kettle works.

If you’re looking into electric boilers, you may come across some boiler types that you’re not familiar with:

• Direct acting electric boiler: The simplest type of electric boiler, which may be the least expensive and easiest to install.

• Storage electric boiler: An electric boiler with the ability to store heat for use later. These can be larger than a direct acting boiler and may cost more.

• Electric CPSU: A Combined Primary Storage Unit that stores a lot of water and can heat radiators or give you hot water extremely quickly. These are large units and are more commonly found in commercial properties as they’re great for heating large volumes of water.

• Dry core storage boiler: These work in a similar way to a storage electric  boiler, but are more versatile in the way they’re able to store and use energy.
